The Department of Family Medicine is a specialty focused on primary health care that addresses the health of individuals, families and the community at all stages of life from a holistic perspective. The Department of Family Medicine consists of faculty members, research assistants and auxiliary health personnel who provide comprehensive and continuous health care regardless of age, gender and disease, adopt the biopsychosocial approach, and work with a patient-centered understanding of service.
The Department of Family Medicine at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine was founded in 2014 and continues its education, research and service activities to strengthen primary health care.
Our department provides outpatient services within the Adult Hospital at the Sıhhiye Campus Medicosocial Center and within the Beytepe Neighborhood Clinic.
In addition to all health services and immunization services for university students, the primary-care-focused health needs of our hospitals' staff and of individuals applying from outside the institution are met by the Department of Family Medicine.
The Adult Hospital also houses 2 (two) Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinics, one at the Sıhhiye Campus Medicosocial Center and the other at the Beytepe Neighborhood Clinic.
Services Provided
Our department works in integration with Hacettepe University Adult Hospital, and all patient care services are carried out under the coordination and responsibility of the Chief Physician's Office. Within the Adult Hospital, 2 (two) Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics and 1 (one) Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinic on the Sıhhiye Campus, and 3 (three) Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics and 1 (one) Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinic on the Beytepe Neighborhood Clinic campus, are actively in service.
Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics
Services are provided within the Adult Hospital by 2 (two) Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics on the Sıhhiye Campus and 3 (three) Family Medicine Outpatient Clinics on the Beytepe Neighborhood Clinic campus. In addition to all health services and immunization services for university students, the primary-care-focused health needs of our hospitals' staff and of individuals applying from outside the institution are met by the Department of Family Medicine.
Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinic
We treat and follow up patients who apply for treatment of tobacco dependence in these outpatient clinics. After evaluating our patients, we start motivational interviewing, medication or nicotine replacement therapy to help them quit smoking, and we follow them up regularly.
How Can I Benefit?
Our outpatient clinics are located inside the Medicosocial Center on the Sıhhiye Campus and on the ground floor of the Beytepe Neighborhood Clinic on the Beytepe Campus.
For the Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinics in the Department, you can make an appointment through the Ministry of Health “ALO 171” line or directly from our Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinics.
**Wednesday afternoons are training days, so our outpatient clinics cannot provide service on Wednesday afternoons.
