How Do I Get an Examination?

Our pediatric emergency outpatient clinic serves 24/7, 365 days a year. For patients evaluated in the Pediatric Emergency Department, the necessary tests for their current complaints and illnesses are then planned. Patients are re-evaluated with the results of the requested blood, urine and radiological tests, and their treatment is planned. When necessary, reports (health report, forensic report, etc.) and prescriptions are issued, or consultations may be requested from other departments. Plans for the evaluation of results and the follow-up process are decided together with the patient and the patient's relatives, taking the patients' diagnostic and treatment needs into account. Report writing in the Pediatric Emergency Outpatient Clinic is done by the emergency secretariat; for patients staying in the Emergency Observation Room, report procedures are carried out between 08:00 and 17:00 by our secretary working in the relevant ward.

Which Patients Can Benefit?

Every child patient presenting to the Pediatric Emergency Outpatient Clinic is certainly evaluated. Any parent who thinks their child is experiencing an emergency should go to the emergency department.

How Can I Benefit from the Service?

After evaluation of the patient a queue number is given by the door physician between the hours 07:30 and 16:00 on a daily basis.

Examination

The physician on the pediatric emergency team asks questions about your child's care and requests tests when necessary. If blood or urine tests are requested after the examination, when the results are ready they are evaluated by the physician who first assessed your child or by another physician to whom the patient has been handed over. In addition, consultations may be requested from other departments when necessary. After the consultant physicians examine you, they may, if necessary, request other tests and consult other specialists, and with these results they help us make your treatment plan. All of this process may take some time depending on the patient's complaint and clinical condition. You will be informed by the physician following you when there are developments.

In every case, it is important to give the physician all the details of the patient's complaint. However, if your complaint is a matter of concern to the judicial authorities, it is important that the way the incident occurred is described accurately, so that your patient's future rights are protected and we can treat them more accurately.

Observation Room

Some patients examined in the Pediatric Emergency Department are placed in the pediatric emergency observation room so that their clinical findings can be closely monitored and a decision can be made on whether to admit them to the hospital before discharge. After your child is taken into the observation room, tests and monitoring will be carried out by the physicians on the pediatric emergency team, and vital signs and other monitoring will be performed by the pediatric emergency nurses. The physician responsible for your child's care in this area may be different.

Hospital Admission

If your child needs longer-term treatment, they may be admitted to the hospital. In this case, your child will be taken to a room in another department of the hospital. Your child's care will then be handed over from the emergency department doctors and nurses to another medical or surgical team in the wards. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's treatment, please ask your child's nurse or doctor. Particularly at times of increased patient volume, there may be no space in our hospital's inpatient wards. In this case, 112 Emergency Health Services is contacted to find you a place in another hospital in Ankara that can provide suitable treatment. However, even if no place is found in this process, your patient's emergency diagnosis and treatment will continue as required.

Discharge

In most cases, your child's visit to the emergency department does not require a hospital stay. When your child is treated in the emergency department and then sent home, the pediatric emergency physicians will give you verbal and, when necessary, written instructions about your child's treatment at home, and will provide detailed information about the medications your child may need, when you should give them, and when and how your child should use them.

Visiting

It is your most natural right to receive information about your patient and to visit them. So that your patients can be treated as quickly as possible, please keep your doctors from being busy as much as possible. Medical information about the patient is given to the patient's parents or primary caregivers. Information is not given to other relatives of the patient except in special circumstances. Keep your visit inside the pediatric emergency department as short as possible, for the health of your patient and other patients, and also for your own health.
