Bülent Şekerel

Bulent E Sekerel was born in USA in 1963. He graduated medicine in 1987 at the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. He qualified as pediatrician in 1993 and as pediatric allergologistin 1996 at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. He became associate professor of pediatrics in 1997 and full professor in 2003. During his fellowship, he workedin Philadelphia Children’s Hospital in Pennsylvania, USA under the supervision of Prof Grunstien. During his postdoctoral training,he workedat Southampton University, Division of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology under the supervision of Prof AJ Frew. Though he care children with all types of allergies, his main areas of research are translational asthma, allergic rhinitis, skin allergies, and burden of asthma/allergic diseases in childhood. He was a member of executive commitee Turkish National Society of Pediatrics and chief-editor of Journal of Allergy-Asthma-Immunology (Turkish) During the last 6 years, he holds the position of general secretary of Turkish National Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.He is a reviewer for a number of international allergy journals. He published over 100 articles in peer review journals, which have so far received over 1000 citations accordingof web of science (h:18). He is editor of books of "Childhood asthma" and "Allergic Rhinitis".
