“HÜNERİM”
Guiding the Neurosurgery Technologies of the Future
The Hacettepe University Neurosurgery Training, Research and Innovation Center (HÜNERİM), established within the Department of Neurosurgery of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine with the infrastructure support of the H.Ü. Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordination Unit, was opened with a ceremony.

Following the opening, Department of Neurosurgery faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şahin Hanalioğlu presented the center's activities and ongoing projects. The presentation covered patient-specific three-dimensional anatomical modeling, surgical planning and simulation software, artificial intelligence-assisted image analysis and automatic segmentation systems, functional brain mapping, brain connectivity (connectome) analyses and computational neurosurgery applications, developed by students, research assistants, faculty members and the engineering team in collaboration with Hacettepe Technopolis and national and international stakeholders.
Stating that HÜNERİM's main goal is to develop the health technologies of the future together with the physicians, engineers and scientists of the future, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanalioğlu said that they are building a scientific ecosystem in which students take an active role at every stage of the research process. Drawing attention to the critical role of university-industry collaboration in developing innovative health technologies, Dr. Hanalioğlu emphasized that the work carried out at the center is being turned not only into scientific publications but also into patents, commercializable products and initiatives that will contribute to our country's strategic goals in health technologies.
Bringing artificial intelligence, big data analytics, advanced imaging, digital twin technologies and patient-specific surgical planning approaches together under one roof, HÜNERİM aims, with its multidisciplinary working culture, strong national and international collaborations and student-centered approach to research, to contribute to Hacettepe University's research and innovation vision and to become one of the world's pioneering centers developing the technologies of the future in neurosurgery.
