Code Blue Committee

The purpose of “Code Blue” is to ensure that a patient in cardiopulmonary arrest is resuscitated quickly and safely by trained and experienced staff through intervention on the heart and respiratory system.

The Code Blue Committee plans the resuscitation services to be applied to ensure that a patient in cardiopulmonary arrest is treated quickly and safely.

In the event of a cardiopulmonary arrest within the Code Blue team's area of responsibility, basic life support is started by the nearest physician and nurse, if any, or other trained staff. At the same time, another staff member initiates the “Code Blue” call by dialing 2222 from the nearest telephone. The responsible physician and nurse continue basic life support until the Code Blue team arrives.
