Ömrüm Uzun

 Born in Susurluk, Balikesir on January 13, 1960, Dr. Uzun moved to Ankara when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Sarar primary school and started high school at Ankara Ataturk Anatolian High School in 1971. She graduated from the high school as valedictorian in 1978 and started her training in the Faculty of Medicine, Ankara University the same year. She graduated as the second best of the year 1984. She worked at Tuberculosis Dispensary, No. 7 in Ankara for 2 years for mandatory civil service. She completed her residency program in the Department of Medicine at The Faculty of Medicine, Hacettepe University in 1990 and started working at the Section of Infectious Diseases. She became assisstant professor in 1993. Between 1993 and 1995, she worked at M.D.Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas as a postdoctoral fellow in the Research Program of Invasive Fungal Infections in Cancer Patients with Dr. Elias Anaissie. She became associateprofessor in 1995 and full professor in 2002. Dr. Uzun has 41international presentations, 46 research papers in internation peer review journals, 25 Turkish and 2 English book chapters.

Dr. Uzun has one daughter. Her non-medical interests are listening to classical music and writing poems and novels (English and Turkish).
