How Can I Benefit from the Service?

It is possible to apply the department at any hour within the working hours, by bringing tissue sample and consultation preparation.

However, requirements for biopsies of kidney and muscle to be sent from another center or institution to the university which do not have detection solution and/or require rapid diagnosis are listed below:

For kidney biopsies

  • Contact the responsible physician of biopsy in the pathology unit (contact the physician by dialing the telephone numbers +90 (312) 305 13 04 or +90 (312) 305 13 01).

  • Place the biopsy in sterile gauze moistened with sterile physiological saline, without putting the sample in any solution after taken, and place it in a petri dish, then band the cover hermetically.

  • Place the petri dish into a vaccine thermos or into a similar thermos with normal ice in it.

  • Place thin foam or a similar material between the petri dish and ice to prevent close contact and possibility of tissue to freeze, deliver it within 6-12 hours to the unit

  • Send also an epicrisis related with the patient.

  • Occasionally continue contacting the unit by the telephone numbers stated above

For muscle biopsies

  • Contact the responsible physician of biopsy in the pathology unit (contact the physician by dialing the telephone numbers +90 (312) 305 13 04 or +90 (312) 305 13 01)

  • Take the biopsy of a muscle that reflects the pathology and which is not traumatized (EMG, anesthesia, etc.), distant from fascia and tendon and not exposed to tensing and pressing

  • Place the biopsy in a sterile gauze moistened with sterile physiological saline, without putting the sample in any solution after taken, and deliver it to the unit as soon as possible, if in Ankara

  • If it will be sent from another province, the patient should be referred and biopsy should be performed in our hospital, if biopsy will be sent, freeze the fluid in nitrogen and deliver in dry ice (CO2), if instant frozen sections will be sent, deliver in dry ice

  • If it is not possible to apply the procedures above, place it in a sterile gauze moistened with sterile physiological saline, put it in a petri dish and band the cover hermetically, place the petri dish into a vaccine thermos or into a similar thermos with normal ice in it, and deliver it to the unit as soon as possible

  • Send also an epicrisis related with the patient.

  • Occasionally continue contacting the unit by the telephone numbers stated above
