Services Offered

In the department, biopsy (needle, endoscopic, punch and surgical) and necropsy (autopsy) services for diagnostic and scientific researches are offered for fetal, perinatal and pediatric age groups (0-17 age). The unit has the widest experience and materials in our country, in terms of pathology of genetic and acquired diseases particularly of fetal, perinatal and neonate periods and it has been providing service as a reference center.

The unit also offers service as a reference center on diagnostic pathology of neuromuscular (muscle- nerve) diseases. In identification of neuromuscular diseases, a wide immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence panel is used and diagnoses of hereditary muscle and nerve disorders can be made with convenient biopsy samples.

In the department, particularly neuromuscular, oncologic, nephrologic and gastrointestinal pathology included consultations sent from the other centers of the country can be responded.

Immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization methods are used in tumor pathology.
